2013 Virginia State University Top Scholar Completes Law Degree

Miss Shari Maynard graduated from Penn State University Dickinson School of law on May 13th, 2017. The ceremony was attended by an impressive audience of the families and friends of the graduating class and university faculty. Among notable speakers was Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey, who delivered the feature address.

Miss Maynard, who was born in the U.S. of Nevisian parents, spent her childhood years and received her early education in Nevis. We first met Miss Maynard in 2013 when she made news for her remarkable feat of obtaining straight A’s and graduating top of her class of 726 undergraduates from Virginia State University. It was from this HBCU that she attained a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration with a minor in Philosophy.

Following her undergraduate studies, she worked for one year before entering law school at Penn State, an outstanding American university with a population of over 40,000 students. In addition to her studies, she was Managing Editor of the Penn State Law Arbitration Law Review. Remaining true to her pattern of academic notoriety, she also excelled in this, with two of her articles on Drafting Arbitration Agreements and Arbitrator Ethics reaching publication status.
Miss Maynard will be joining the Philadelphia law firm of Eckert, Seamans, Cherin & Mellott, where she interned for two consecutive summers.

Miss Maynard is thankful to God for her achievements and attributes her success to discipline, perseverance, and the love and support of her family. She is the daughter of Sandra Maynard of Cane Garden, Nevis and Donald Thompson of Bird Rock, St. Kitts.
