East Rutherford, New Jersey – Spain booked their place in the FIFA World Cup final with a commanding 2-0 victory over France on Tuesday, securing their first appearance in the tournament’s showpiece match since lifting the trophy in 2010.

Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot after brilliant attacking play by teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who once again showcased his exceptional talent on the international stage.

Pedro Porro doubled Spain’s advantage in the 58th minute, finishing off a well-worked move involving Dani Olmo to put the result beyond doubt.

A day after celebrating his 19th birthday, Yamal thought he had added his name to the scoresheet, but his effort was ruled out for a narrow offside. Nevertheless, his dazzling run and intelligent play against an experienced French defender were instrumental in creating Spain’s opening goal.

Spain will now await the winner of today’s semi-final between defending champions Argentina and England. The two football giants will meet in Atlanta for the right to face Spain in Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
