Bank of Nevis Ltd announces intention to increase share capital of the Bank

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)-On the morning of Friday, February 2, 2017 the Bank of Nevis held a small media launch ceremony at the Bank’s headquarters.

Marketing Officer at the Bank of Nevis Ltd, Mr. Pheon Jones, gave the opening remarks. Jones indicated that it was the intention of the bank to increase the capital of the Bank by giving the general public the opportunity to buy additional shares in the insitution. Mr. Jones was of the view that the Bank is for all Nevisians, and persons should seek to benefit in whatever way possible.

General Manager at the Bank of Nevis Ltd, Mr. Everette Martin, also gave some remarks. He told those gathered, that the Bank of Nevis is the premiere Bank on the island of Nevis. Martin pointed out, that the Bank is an indigenous Bank that has been serving not only Nevisians but other persons throughout the Diaspora for many years. He said that the Bank of Nevis (BON) has been operating for the past thirty-one years; while the Bank of Nevis International (BONI) has been in operation for the past nineteen years. The General Manager indicated that these two institutions have been around for a significant number of years, and he urged the public to invest in the Bank of Nevis Ltd.

Chairman of the Bank of Nevis Ltd, Mr. Laurie Lawrence, also gave some brief remarks. Mr. Lawrence stated that the Bank of Nevis is one of the few financial institutions in Nevis that has been successful and has done a tremendous job in assisting with the development of the country since independence. He noted that the Bank has played an important role since its inception and over that period, it has seen tremendous growth in assets, loans and advances.  Lawrence indicated that there are a number of entrepreneurs that have benefitted from the institution who might not have been considered by the traditional banks. These entrepreneurs, he said were able to obtain resources from the Bank of Nevis.

Mr. Lawrence noted that the visionary of the Bank, Sir Simeon Daniel, wanted Nevis to be independent both politically and economically so his vision was to establish a bank that could have helped with that goal.

The Chairman pointed out, that it is very important for Nevisians to also look at the possibility of owning shares at the Bank. In conclusion, he urged everyone to keep supporting the Bank of Nevis Ltd.
