BUSH WHACKERS AND BEATERS FORCE THEIR WAY INTO VPL FINALS

A fair sized crowd was on hand at the Hard Times playing field on Sunday 23rd April to witness the semifinals in the ongoing VPL league.

In match one, Ole Skool engaged Bush Whackers in what turned out to be a one sided contest.

Jacel Allen slammed an elegant 60 and Carlon Smithen 46 in an entertaining partnership of 125 from just 8 overs, before Allen was bowled by Herbert.

When Herbert also bowled Smithen in the same over, the horrific run rate slowed but Bush Whackers still managed a challenging 156.

When the Ole Skool team batted, wickets fell at regular intervals and except for a slight show of resistance from Herbert, the Ole Skool team wilted and was bowled out for 56 runs, thereby ensuring the Bush Whackers team, a spot in the finals.

The feature match of the afternoon, turned out to be a bit of an anticlimax, as Jah Bass team engaged Beaters, with both teams having a fair slate of past and present Nevis island players.

The Jah Bass team was off to a poor start and with Tonito and Akito Willet, both going cheaply, they never recovered and could only muster 73.

Even though, the Beaters team also lost a few crucial wickets, including that of Skipper Adelvin Phillip, Kejel Tyson, led the batting to take his team over the line and ensuring them a spot in the finals.

The grand finals will now be played at the Hard Times playing field, on Sunday 30th April.

A bumper crowd is expected to witness the encounter between Beaters and Bush Whackers.
