CAMP REFRESH SET TO COMMENCE NEXT WEEK

By:Curtis Morton

Charlestown-Nevis-Parents around the island are frantically seeking to get their children registered for the annual CAMP REFRESH, hosted by the Community Development Department.

Director of the Department, Mrs. Janet Meloney, indicated earlier this week, that the camp is set to commence on Monday 11th July and run until Friday 22nd July.

The theme to be utilized this year is

“creativity, friendships, virtues at best-2016 Camp refresh.”

The camp will be held at specific venues in each parish as follows:

St. George’s-Jocelyn Liburd Primary School

St. John’s –Brown Hill Community Center

St.Paul’s-Albertha Payne Community Center in Bath Village

St.James’’-Butler’s Community center

St.Thomas’-Jessups Community center

The camp will cater for children ages 5 to 16 at a small cost of $25.00 per child.

According to Mrs. Meloney, the children are in for a rare treat this year. Quite a bit of emphasis will be placed on virtues, manners, etiquette and general decorum and these will be taught in creative and unique ways-not always in the lecture format.

The children will also be taught arts and craft; culinary arts and gardening and will also be taken on field trips.

At the end of the two week session, the various venues for the camp will host official closing ceremonies, where the children will be able to showcase in a real way, what they would have learnt.

Registration forms can be obtained from the Community Development department, situated in down town Charlestown.
