Craddock Road Wins Inaugural Community Cricket Festival

It was held as part of the activities which featured during the month of May, officially labeled ‘Community development month.’
According to Community Development Officer for the St. Paul’s Parish, Mr. Othniel Daley, the activity was previously scheduled for that month, but due to unforeseen circumstances, it did not materialize.

However, on Monday 5th June, WHIT Monday, a public holiday, two teams faced off at the Villa grounds, as the festival was hosted on that day. The two teams were Craddock Road and Stoney Grove.
Craddock Road won the toss and batted first and blazed their way to an imposing 108 for 9, off their 10 overs, led by a scintillating innings of 45 by Zakeese Smith, who pommelled the ball to all parts of the ground.

The Stoney Grove team made a determined effort to overhaul the total and the Craddock Road’s manager, SHANGO, admitted to being ‘a little scared at one time,’ but lauded his team for pulling off the victory nonetheless.
Stoney Grove eventually succumbed at 80 for 8 (effectively all out), as they were short of players.

The winning trophy was presented to Manager SHANGO and Captain of the Craddock Road team, Boognarine Sharma who gratefully accepted, on behalf of their team.
Daley is promising that similar ventures will be pursued in the near future.
