Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 9, 2013) – Digicel, amongst a host of other businesses and private donors within St. Kitts and Nevis, this past weekend came together to host an annual event which organizers are calling “successful” for the benefit of the St. Christopher Children’s Home.
Raising over EC$200,000 the Walk/Run event got off to a great start just after 4:00 o’clock on a sunny afternoon of Saturday, October 5 at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club. Hundreds of supporters in sneakers and running gear were in attendance, ranging from babies in strollers to the elderly.
As the event got on its way, walkers and runners marched and jogged around the golf course laughing, smiling and just having lots of family fun.
The Walk/Run concluded with a barbecue lunch which was provided by the Marriott Hotel and the drawing of a raffle, where one lucky participant walked away with a BlackBerry Q10 Smartphone, compliments Digicel, all in the aid of charity.
Jodi Peeder, one of the organizers of the event, said this year raised the most money since the event started four years ago and that the organizers were extremely satisfied. Expressions of gratitude were extended to the participants and moreso the all the Sponsors, as the event would have not have been extraordinary without them.
Digicel St. Kitts & Nevis Limited was delighted to be the exclusive telecoms sponsor with a platinum contribution of EC$10,000 and sincerely wish that this donation will help to lift the spirits and put smiles on the faces of the children who currently reside at the Home, for a very long time.
