“Our aim is to ensure that our customers have access to the ultimate in home entertainment so they can enjoy their favourite programmes,” said John Suranyi, Group CEO for Digicel Play.
Every four years, the world’s eyes are on one event – the Olympics – where athletes compete for their country and the right to call themselves the best. This year, Digicel brand ambassador and World Record holder, Usain Bolt, will look to defend his sprint double titles and sports fans will be able to witness history in the making on ESPN and free-to-air TV via Digicel Play. The 14 events from the Diamond League that lead up to the Olympics will be available to Digicel Play customers on SportsMax and SportsMax2 starting May 6.
In June, two of the biggest football tournaments – Copa America and EURO 2016 – will also be shown in full HD with the best teams in the world participating. EURO 2016 will feature World Cup winners, Germany who will be challenged by host team France, as well as Wayne Rooney’s England and Ronaldo’s Portugal. While World Cup runners-up Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will battle Neymar’s Brazil and Suarez’s Uruguay along with the Reggae Boys in the 100th edition of the Copa America.
Other exciting and much-anticipated events that sports fans will be able to watch on Digicel Play this summer include Wimbledon, the French Open, Indianapolis 500 Qualifying, Major League Soccer, the closing games in European league football from England, Germany, Italy, Spain and more.
“We are very happy to be delivering an action-packed summer of sports that our customers can access on SportsMax, SportsMax2, ESPN, free-to-air TV and mobile via our Digicel Play service,” added Suranyi.
