(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- On Sunday, October 26, 2014 a fire of an unknown origin gutted a house located at Ramsbury Site, Charlestown.

At about 2:00 a.m. the small community of Ramsbury Site was awakened by the sound of loud sirens and the sight of thick black smoke coming from one of its houses. This was as officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, along with the Fire and Rescue Services Department were responding to a fire at the home of Floris Finley.

As morning broke, the damage to the house became visible. The structure of the concrete house has remained intact, but it was observed that the internal part of the house was badly damaged. The back portion of the house seemed to have sustained most of the damage. Smoke-damage could also be seen outside on the front door. This was an indication that the fire may have destroyed most of the interior of the house.

Nevispages spoke to police officers who were on the scene collecting evidence. They could not confirm or deny whether arson was suspected. They did indicate that the investigation was ongoing.

News reaching this publication indicates that Finley is currently off island.

Police were called to this house sometime in 2013 when rocks were thrown at the house and damaged the front door.

Nevispages will update this story as new information comes to light.
