Lady Mignon capsizes en route to Nevis from St Kitts

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- M.V. Lady Mignon a boat that transports cargo between the Federation of St. Kitts- Nevis capsized in the waters of Nevis today Friday, September 12, 2014 at about 3:00 p.m.

It is reported that the captain and crew members were rescued by the vessel ‘Islander’. Later, the coast guard and other local vessels went to the scene to offer assistance.

Details are sketchy but it is alleged that a container may have shifted position and may have caused the accident.

As news spread many persons crowded the Samuel Hunkins Drive, Charlestown and the shorelines to witness what was taking place out to sea.

Nevispages witnessed one lady in tears and crying out for mercy as she lamented that she believes that this island needs prayers.

UPDATE: Reports reaching Nevispages suggests that the vessel has sunk. All efforts to salvage turned out to be futile.
