Man convicted for possession of cannabis

(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)-The District ‘C’ Magistrate Court, Charlestown resumed its sitting on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 before Her Honor, Magistrate Yasmine Clarke.

The matter before the court was that of Jermaine Whyte of St. Kitts who was charged for the possession of cannabis.  Whyte was residing in Bath Village at the time of the incident. He pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to Prosecutor, Eurica Percival, on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, a search was conducted on the property of Glenville Phillip of Bath Village Nevis. As a result of the search, some cannabis was discovered. Whyte took responsibility for the substance and was subsequently taken to the Charlestown Police Station.

Her Honor ordered the defendant to pay a fine of $2000.00 dollars to be paid in six months. If he does not comply, Whyte will serve twelve months in prison.
