BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 29TH 2014 (CUOPM) – With several multi-million dollar projects under construction and the resilience and growth in the St. Kitts and Nevis economy are some of the reasons why Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Limited is not only expanding its operations in St. Kitts, but is also relocating its regional headquarters to Basseterre from the British Virgin Islands.
“When the economy is boisterous and is growing, companies like Delta Petroleum scan and we make sure that we become a part of that economy. We come because that economy is growing. We come because it is boisterous,” said Regional General Manager Mr. Bevis Sylvester.
“There are developments on the horizon and there are developments happening currently; that is what drives us to come into a market, to participate and to be a meaningful player,” Sylvester told St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and other invited guests during last Friday’s ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a bulk facility.
“This project includes construction of two-8,000 barrel tanks which amounts to 350,000 gallons each and one- 4,000 barrel gasoline tank. The two 8, 000 barrel tanks are for diesel and the other 4,000 gallons tank is for gasoline. Also we will be installing 30,000 gallons of LPG within the first phase of the project, an additional 30,000 gallons shortly thereafter. The plant will have a capacity of 700,000 gallons of diesel, 150,000 gallons of gasoline and 150,000 gallons of LPG cooking gas,” said Mr. Sylvester.
He said Delta Petroleum believes in being part of the community that is served and that is why one of the company’s key logos is ‘advancing for future generations.’
“You see when history is read, Delta Petroleum would be a midst a great country, a great company when it says that on this day, the 26th of September, Delta Petroleum broke ground in St. Kitts. It is not enough for us to be in Nevis. The economic growth and the economic activities are within this country and it would be remiss of us to sit aside and not bring our formula to the people of St. Kitts.
“The people of St. Kitts can now know and rest assured that this company, we have their back. We are going to make sure that through better quality products and ensuring that we meet their needs that at all times, they can afford petroleum products. One of the things you must understand is that without competition, there is nothing. Competition is the only force that balances your market. Competition is the only way that the people benefits and I would dare to say that only one person benefits from competition and that’s the citizens of this country,” said the Regional General Manager, who admitted:

We can boast and say that we are the longest standing brand in great areas where we operate. Delta Petroleum birth in 1985 and from there we went to Nevis, then Anguilla, then Montserrat, then St. Maarten and now today we are here in St. Kitts. So we are going nowhere. We are here to stay. We are dependable Delta.”
