Nevis archers prepare for Barbados tournament‏

BATH VILLAGE,Nevis, March 15, 2016 A visiting coach from Trinidad on the weekend said Nevis archers who will participate at the envisaged regional archery tournament scheduled to be held in Barbados from March 24th to March 29th, 2016 are well prepared.

“They seem to be on the right track. They are becoming good archers,” the coach who chose unanimity said in an interview over the weekend. There are four local archers traveling to Barbados on March 23rd,2016- Dave Sandiford, Catherine Joseph, Pam Barry and Edmund Blachette. They will compete for the Southern Caribbean Archery Championships…

The coach trained the archers on various techniques particularly body movements and tuning their bows.. Ms Barry the founder of the association was optimistic that her team would bring home medals, “ Although we are the youngest club we we will try to bring back some medals this year. Next year we will travel with a larger team. It’s a fun sport using bow and arrow.”

“For me the open field competition is the highlight and it entails 24 different lengths. There are small and large targets to reach,” Barry said.

Dane Sandiford, the President of St. Kitts and Nevis Archery Association said the archers are building on the training they received last year from the visiting coach. “We feel much better prepared than when we participated in a regional competition in Guadeloupe two years ago and Trinidad last year. The coach came just in time as we prepare to compete in Barbados,” the President said.

Pam Barry the founder of the association said the number of archers has increased since the association was founded three years ago. There are eight new members among them are three teenagers.
