NEVIS COOPERATIVE CREDIT UNION CONTINUES ITS GIVING WAYS

Charlestown-Nevis- As part of the celebration of Credit Union week 2016, the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, continued its giving ways, as a three in one ceremony was held at the institution’s conference room on Wednesday 19th October.

The first presentation was made to two of the institution’s’ newest scholarship holders, by Board member, Mrs. Sheryl Barrett-Fields and staff member, Mr. Thorne Browne. The scholarship holders presented with their cheques, were: Sidondre Flemming of the Charlestown Secondary School and Leniqua Dyer of the Gingerland Secondary School.

Mrs. Lea Parris- Cambridge then received a cheque from staff members, Mr. Ken Williams and Miss Kyra Evelyn. She indicated that the donation would help greatly in her ‘changing the face of cancer’ campaign, which she has initiated.

Mrs. Garcia Hendrickson, Coordinator of the seniors’ division on Nevis, then received a cheque, presented by staff member, Mr. Rene Smithen which she noted will go a long way in alleviating expenses incurred during this month of October, celebrated as the month of older persons.

Manager of the institution, Mr. G. Sydney Newton, who chaired the proceedings, then elaborated on some of the activities listed for the week:

Church service at the Charlestown Wesleyan Holiness Church on Sunday 16th October; Launch of a vehicle loans promotion dubbed ‘drive to Havana’, on Monday 17th October; Donations made on Wednesday 19th October; International Credit Union day on Thursday 20th October. A speech will be made by the President of the Credit Union’s board on that day.  On that same day, there will be a historic meeting of the directors of credit union Boards and Managers in St.Kitts.

Friday 21st October, is a day much anticipated by the members, commonly referred to as ‘customer appreciation day.’
