Police Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 21, 2015 (RSCNPF): During a patrol in the Conaree area last night (Friday, November 20), around 11:10pm, officers of the Special Services Unit (SSU) saw an unidentified male individual standing outside of a property. His behaviour aroused the officers suspicion. The officers stopped and exited the vehicle in an attempt to engage the individual.

In doing so, the person ran and the officers set chase. During the process it was observed that he removed a shiny object from his waist and threw it in some nearby bushes. He eluded the officers thus being unable to be apprehended. A search for the object thrown in the bushes was initiated.

The search resulted in the find of one (1) Taurus .40mm Semi-Automatic pistol loaded with a magazine of 15 rounds of .40mm ammunition. The weapon has been taken into police custody for ballistic examination.

This find brings to 19, the number of firearms taken from the streets this year.
