Mr. Liburd, who has declared his candidacy for the East Basseterre seat has stated on several occasions during his daily talk show on Sugar City 90.3 FM and to local media outlet WINNFM that he understands why suicide bombers plant bombs, which kill innocent persons.

“You know sometimes I say and I say this quite frankly, I can understand why some people plant bombs. I can understand why in some parts of the world, you find suicide bombers because you can understand this. I can understand it and I am sure you can like the caller. Yes, you have to stand up and liberate our land using all means necessary. But yes I understand! I really and fully understand why some people have to plant bombs. I understand and I say so with no fear of contradiction. I understand as well, why in some places you find suicide bombers,” said Mr. Liburd.

“I heard statements also being made about people understanding terrorism. How could you understand why a plane would go into the World Trade Center (in New York) and kill thousands of people? How can you understand why people should go to a (Boston) marathon, where thousands of innocent people who want to take part in a wholesome activity and they should be killed? How can you understand that for a political end?,” asked Dr. Drew, in an interview on Freedom FM 106.5.
