Police Investigating Murder on Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 15, 2015 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is currently investigating the shooting death of Gervin “Nose” Walters, male, 29years of Taylor’s Pasture, Gingerland, Nevis.

The incident occurred at about 11:00pm on Saturday (November 14) in the vicinity of the Gingerland Methodist Church at Maynard’s Ground.

According to the VCU report, the deceased was walking on a road east of the church accompanied by a female. An armed masked person dressed in all black clothing accosted him from the nearby bushes and fired multiple shots. Walters was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer.

The scene was processed by members of the Forensic Services Unit and a number of .45 calibre cartridge casings were recovered. Investigations are ongoing.

The Violent Crime Unit has asked the community for assistance with this and all cases currently being investigated. “We urge anyone with information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime to call any Police Station in the federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information,” stressed Superintendent Mitchell, Head of the Unit.
