Police Press Release : Report of Arrests, Convictions and Other Activities .

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 26, 2017, (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period April 19 – 23, 2017.

ARREST AND BAIL:
Arrested: A male of Stapleton Village was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Rape committed on Saturday, April 01.

Arrested: Felix Hughes of Fort Thomas Road was arrested formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Housing Breaking and Larceny committed March 18th 2017.

Arrested: Kishorn Carty of Saddlers was arrested formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Wounding Committed on March 9th 2017 at Saddlers.

Arrested/Bailed: Julian Carty of Sheppard Street, Newtown/ Lower Monkey Hill was arrested formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply to Another. He was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 5th June, 2017.

Bailed: Ray Persaud of Bird Rock who was formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, June 5th, 2017.

Bailed: Stephen Warner of St. Johnson Village who was formally arrested on a Warrant in The First Instance for the offence of Wounding committed on Saturday 15th April 2017, was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for his appearance at the Dieppe Bay Magistrate Court on Friday 21st April 2017. Bail was granted with the following condition; to keep 100 feet away from the complainant.

COURT CONVICTIONS:
In matter at the Charlestown Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Miss Yasmine Clarke, following conviction(s) were reported:
– Jeheida Howell of Bath Village was convicted and fined $1000.00 to be paid in three (3) months or if in default serve six (6) months imprisonment for the offence of Larceny. If fine is paid on time, there will be no conviction recorded
– Kemo Sancho of Ramsbury Site was convicted and sentenced to two (2) years hard labor for the offence of Simple Wounding
-Trevis Leitch of Hermitage Estate was convicted and cautioned for the offence of Driving without due care and attention.

OTHER ACTIVITY:
Marijuana Plant Uprooted: Officers reported that they uprooted and seized two thousand three Hundred and thrity three (2333) marijuana plants ranging from seedlings to seven feet in height from the following areas St Paul’s, Saddlers and Upper Cayon.

Officers reported that they uprooted one hundred and twenty two (122) marijuana plants ranging from seedlings to three feet in height from Monkey Hill Area.

House Breaking and Larceny: Police responded to a number of House Breakings and Larcenies over the period of this report. The breakings were reported in the following areas: Bird Rock, Victoria Road, Douglas Commercial Development and Buckley’s.

Traffic Accidents: There were three (3) accidents on the federation’s roadways in St. Kitts during the period of this report.

Citizen Safety: Police continue to conduct Vehicle Check Points and Stop and Searches along the island main road on St. Kitts and Nevis. Officers continue to conduct searches of abandoned properties and lots. The execution of search warrants continue as well. These activities are being conducted in support of anti-crime objectives to remove illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes from our communities.
