REPORT OF ARREST, CONVICTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 20, 2016 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrest, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period June 17-18-19.

ARREST AND BAIL:

Arrested: Beverly Bartlette and Jachara Grant both of Bath Village were each arrested and formally charged in the First Instance for the offence of House Breaking with intent.  Offence was committed on 13th June 2016 at Cole Hill.

Arrested: Juvenile, 15 years old was arrested and formally charged on a Warrant in the First Instance for the Offence of Wounding. Offence Committed on Friday 17th June, 2016.

 Arrested: Curtis Wattley of Saddlers was arrested and formally charged with a warrant for the offence of Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply.  Incident occurred on 17th June 2016.  Bailed:   Curtis Wattley was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the District “B” Magistrate Court on Monday 4th July,2016 at 9 o’clock in the forenoon.

Arrested: Noel Norford of Saddlers was arrested and formally charged with a warrant for the offences of Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply and Carrying abroad an offensive weapon,  to wit a knife. Incident Occurred about 17th June 2016. Bailed: Noel Norford was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the District “B” Magistrate court on Monday 4th July,2016 at 9 o’clock in the forenoon.

Arrested: Delverne Patrick of Parson Village was arrested, charged and formally cautioned and charged for the offence of Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply. Bailed: Delverne Patrick of Parsons Village who was formally charged for Possession of Cannabis, with intent to supply, was granted bail in the sum of $5000.00 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Wednesday 6th July, 2016 at 09:00 o’clock in the forenoon

COURT CONVICTION:

In matters at the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court presided over by Her Honour Ms Karen Hill Hector,  Ian Stevens of Half Way Tree who was charged with the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention was convicted and fined $1000.00 ECC  to be paid by July 15, 2016  or in default serve 30 days in prison.

 OTHER ACTIVITY:

Burglary:  Police responded to and are investigating three reports of burglary in the New Guinea and Halfway Tree area that occurred during the early morning hours on 19 June 2016.  The investigations is ongoing.

 Traffic Accident: nine (9) traffic accidents occurred on the federation’s roadways (7) in St. Kitts and (2) in Nevis for the period of 17-18-19th June 2016.

Citizen Safety: Police continues to conduct Vehicular Check Points and or Stop and Searches and several searches of abandoned properties. Over twenty five stop and searches, over thirty vehicular check points resulting in the search of over 150 vehicles, the execution of three search warrants, and several personal stop and searches were conducted during the reporting period.  The check points and searches were done in efforts to ensure Citizen Safety, by removing any found Illegal Firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, and other instruments that can be used to commit crimes.

School Visits: Officers of the Gingerland Police station visited the  Gingerland Secondary School, the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School and the V and J Pre-School.  The officers spoke with the  head teachers and members of staff and interacted with the students.

Village Shop Visits: Officers of the New Castle Police Station  reported that they continue visits to village  shops in the Newcastle Policing  District. The officers spoke to the shop owners who were grateful for the regular police visits to their business places and interacted with members of the community doing weekend shopping.
