Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in Nevis as they rebound from yesterday morning’s devastating fire that totally destroyed the Nevis Treasury Office, the VAT Office and the Philatelic Bureau and severely damaged the contents of the Inland Revenue Office.
I have no doubt that Premier the Hon. Vance Amory, Deputy Premier the Hon. Mark Brantley and the Hon. Alexis Jeffers and their team will work diligently to rebuild after, what Premier Amory called, “a black day” in Nevis.
We want the leadership and the people of Nevis to know, that we stand with them during this most difficult time. We know that a fire can certainly burn down a building but it can never burn down the hopes and dreams of a people
. Yes these are very critical public institutions that have been ravaged by a fire of unknown origin, at this particular moment in time, but I am certain that the resolve and resilience of the people of Nevis remain strong.
Nevisians are a renowned people of faith and we know that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. We know that there is hope in Nevis and that your administration, under the good leadership of Premier Vance Amory, has already started the recovery process. God bless you all during this very difficult time.
Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris,
