Albert Myers Remembered with Candle Light Vigil

The life and works of the late Albert Myers of Stoney Grove, Nevis was remembered in a candle light vigil on Thursday, August 20, 2015.

The event started with a march from Reliable Motors at the corner of Main Street and Bath Village Road, and culminated in the parking lot of VON Radio, with a short service.

Business woman and community activist, Ms. Rodney Elliott was one of the main organizers and she felt that the vicinity of VON Radio was the perfect location for the event since Myers was, up to the time of his death, the dedicated technician at the establishment.

The service, which followed the march, was chaired by Mr. Sydney Newton.

Hon. Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier, made brief remarks and a special tribute was done by Mr. Everette ‘Webbo’ Herbert, General Manager, VON Radio.

Prayers, songs, scripture lessons and other tributes also formed part of the service.

Myers was gunned down at his home sometime between the evening of Thursday, August 06, 2015 and the morning of August 07, 2015. His body was discovered on Friday, August 07, 2015.

His death marked the sixth homicide on the island of Nevis for 2015.
