BATH UNITED IS 2013 NETBALL CHAMPS

It started out the way it was billed—‘a big match’ and the sizeable crowd at the Grell Hull-Stevens Netball Complex on the evening of Saturday 8th June, settled down to witness what was expected to be a keen contest between Bath United and Stoney Grove Untouchables.

After all, the match was set to determine championship honours for 2013.

It started out in exciting fashion, with both teams matching each other shot for shot.

During the second quarter, Stoney Grove Untouchables went ahead by one goal but that did not last long, as Bath United reacted speedily to go ahead again.

At the end of the second quarter, the scores were interestingly poised with Bath United on 17 and Stoney Grove Untouchables on 16.

Allister Thompson called it right. He predicted that the team leading at the end of the third quarter would win the game.  At the whistle the score was Bath United 30 and Stoney Grove Untouchables 21.

To make matters worse, the Stoney Grove team was forced to make some changes in the final quarter and virtually gave up the ghost. The match ended in anticlimactic fashion with the Stoney Grove team trailing badly in the end.

Queen Sybil and Aunty Shelly were the two voices leading the Bath team’s celebrations.  With one match remaining, Bath United is the official champion of Netball on Nevis for 2013
