It promised to be the most exciting match of the opening weekend of the SKNFA Premier League, and it lived up to expectations. Flow 4G Cayon Rockets delivered a masterclass against Rams Village Superstars, brushing them aside 4-1 at Warner Park on Sunday afternoon.

Village fought valiantly, despite going down to 10 men in the first half when Raheem Francis was sent off with a straight red card in the 38th minute for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. Cayon’s assistant coach Valentine Anthony praised his players for a comprehensive performance in their first match of the season. “We trained hard. We trained hard. The players did what they were supposed to do. We wanted more goals, but, unfortunately, fitness played a role in that. So hopefully, going on into this season, the players get fit and we dominate the league,” Anthony said.
Coach of Village Superstars Stephen Clarke, said his players made some errors that cost them the match. “Too much individual errors. Every goal that scored came from an error from ourselves defensively, individually, so that’s something we definitely have to tighten up on,” Clarke said.
SADDLERS OVERCOMES SECURITY FORCES
In Sunday’s earlier match, Fast Cash Saddlers United came from 2-0 down in the first half to defeat Elco Ltd Security Forces FC 3-2.

Saddlers’ Coach Samuel Phipps described the tale of two halves for his team. “What went wrong is there were some defensive errors. I thought that the guys didn’t do what we did on the training pitch, but nonetheless, we’re going back to the drawing board and working on it again,” Phipps said. For the second half, he credited some changes he made at halftime. “One of the center backs, I put them out on the left and I brought back one of the players who was playing in the midfield to play center back… to stabilize the defense and it worked,” he added.
Coach St. Clair Morris of Security Forces, said his team lost focus but said some of the blame was down to officiating. “Our players weren’t disciplined enough. We missed the shape of our organisation,” he said. “Couple of the goals that scored on us…were (due to) a bad decision by the referee.”
