CBIS Hosts Annual Sports Meet

The Cecely Browne Integrated School (CBIS), held its annual sports meet on Thursday 28th February, at the school’s grounds.
The meet was held under the distinguished patronage of former student of the school, Shakir Stapleton.
Shakir is the son of Jasper and Lorna Stapleton and was enrolled at the Special Education Unit at the age of 10.
Since then, he has travelled many times to represent St. Kitts-Nevis, as a special Olympic athlete, to such places as Puerto Rico and China. His feature events are Tennis and Athletics and has brought back gold and silver medals in both fields.
He was the valedictorian at his graduating class of 2016 and has since landed a significant job at the Department of Information Technology.
The kind hearted and respectable athlete, is one of the athletes who will represent St. Kitts and Nevis at the upcoming Special Olympics, to be held in Dubai, in the next few days.
All 17 students at the school participated in several individual races and team events.
The events included 50 and 80 meters dash; lime and spoon; dress up race; sack race and thread the roll.
The highlight of the day however, was the tug of war event between teachers and parents. This was won by the strong teachers at the school.
There was also a parents/students/ teachers relay, which saw the teachers winning and the students placing second, with the parents having to settle for the third spot.
All in all, it was a truly a fun filled meet.
