On Wednesday, May 15th, an exciting fundraising cricket match was held at the ET Willet Park. The event was the brainchild of Hakeem Harvey, the Coach at Ivor Walters Primary School. The idea behind the match was to raise funds to assist Kevon Woode, a distressed former student at the school, with his substantial medical expenses.
The Ivor Walters Primary School’s team played against the New Vision junior team in a 15-over encounter. New Vision batted first and scored a formidable 136 for 2 in their allotted 15 overs, with Demorae Prentice reaching 46 before retiring out.
The Ivor Walters team made a strong start in the early overs, with Billy playing an impressive shot through square leg for four. However, after his departure, wickets fell regularly. Eventually, the match had to be called off due to a sharp, powerful shower, with the IWPS team struggling at 36 for 7. Nicholas Hero took four wickets and celebrated with his team in grand style.
A significant number of people attended the match, patronized the well-stocked bar, and made donations to the worthy cause.
