Cricket : Nevis Cricket Academy Gets Underway

The Nevis Cricket Academy officially commenced training sessions at the ET Willet Park on Wednesday, June 3, following its recent launch.

Chief Coordinator and former West Indies all-rounder Carl Tuckett welcomed the young participants and outlined the Academy’s expectations and objectives. He encouraged the aspiring cricketers to develop a strong sense of patriotism and national pride, inviting them to sing the national anthem of St. Kitts and Nevis, which they did with enthusiasm and pride.

The participants were then divided into various groups and assigned to coaches from the Department of Sports, who were on hand in full support of the initiative.

The young cricketers took part in a series of warm-up exercises before moving into practical training sessions focused on the fundamental skills of the game, including batting, bowling, and fielding.

The Academy is expected to conduct training sessions on a weekly basis, with plans to gradually introduce match simulations and other competitive activities as players continue to develop their skills.

The programme represents a significant investment in the future of cricket on Nevis, providing young athletes with structured coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to grow both on and off the field.
