Film Focus Nevis to Host Autism Awareness Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Charlestown, Nevis — As part of activities recognising Autism Awareness Month in April, Film Focus Nevis will host a special film screening and panel discussion on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC).

The event will feature a screening of the inspiring film “The Unbreakable Boy,” a story that highlights the journey of a father and his son living with autism and brittle bone disease. The film celebrates resilience, love, and the power of understanding, offering audiences a deeper look into the experiences of families navigating autism.

Following the screening, a panel of local professionals and educators will engage in an informative discussion on autism awareness, support systems, and the importance of inclusion within schools and communities.

Panellists include Dr Andrea A. Bussue, Education Consultant and Principal of Nevis Academy; Samona Davis, Behaviour Analyst and Autism Consultant of AIDE Consulting; Ivorcia Browne, Counselling Psychology Specialist and IBCCES Certified Autism Specialist; and Josette Myers, Principal of Maude Smith Pre-School.

Organisers say the event is intended to raise awareness, promote understanding, and provide valuable information to parents, educators, and community members about autism and the importance of early support and intervention.

Admission to the event is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Proceeds will support ongoing autism awareness and educational initiatives.

The event is being supported by several partners, including the Nevis Film Commission, Cape Air, Palm Garden Nevis, Nevis Academy, Maude Smith Pre-School, AIDE Consulting, and Touching Lives Centre.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend, learn more about autism, and show their support for individuals and families within the community who are affected by autism spectrum disorder.
