Football : History Created-SKNFA Gets First Female General Secretary

Ms. Techell McClean has been appointed as the General Secretary of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association.

In so doing, Ms. Mc Clean becomes the first woman to hold the position-truly a historic occurrence.

She is a proud member of the St. Peter’s Football Club, where she served in the positions of Secretary and Vice President for over twenty-two years.

In more recent times, she assisted her beloved club as an advisor and interim Secretary.

She thanked President Atiba Harris for having the faith in her to not only hold the position but to deliver.

She noted that she felt honoured and believes that this is a demonstration of woman empowerment from the bottom up.

She plans to be an active part of the new administration’s mandate to empower players and clubs, with a special emphasis on women’s Football, as that is fast developing within the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

She is also happy that with Nevis bringing three votes to the table to ensure victory for the new executive, that special attention will be paid to the development of Football on that island as well.

‘Nevis has a voice,’ she stated reassuringly.
Ms. Mc Clean replaces the previous General Secretary from the last administration, Mr. Stanley Jacobs.
