The St. Kitts Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) will be launching the FIFA-backed Talent Development Scheme (TDS) on Tuesday, January 16, where it will scout for talent to be involved in the program. Lenny Taylor, SKFNA Technical Director explained what will happen on Tuesday.
“We are beginning (the trial (period) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Cayon, the opening of the trial period. And in the trial period, we are going to be looking for players who will qualify themselves to come to the national centre, which is here at the Technical Center. The ones who are not qualified or ready for the National Academy will go back (to their training base) and continue training four days a week,” he explained.
The Technical director was keen to point out that this program is intense and will be done in conjunction with the national football academy at the SKNFA Technical Center. “If they make it, they will begin training at the technical center immediately,” he disclosed.
Mr. Taylor said registration has gone well for both boys and girls and he is looking forward to Tuesday’s launch. The main goal of the TDS is to help raise the standards of national-team football around the world for both men and women, driven by FIFA’s desire for a long-term dedication to global talent development.
