(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- News reaching this publication indicates that police officers on Nevis responded to a robbery at about 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Hermitage area.

Further information revealed that a couple vacationing on Nevis for their honeymoon was robbed by masked men at gunpoint. It was also reported that the male victim received minor injuries to his body during the attack.

The bandits then used the couple’s rental vehicle to make an escape.

This publication is unaware if the perpetrators made an escape with valuable items. However, police officers are currently investigating the matter.

This incident follows three months after the daylight Monday, June 23, 2014 robbery of the Bank of Novia Scotia in Nevis which still remains a mystery.

Three persons were detained for that incident but were later released.

Two weeks later, on Monday, July 7, 2014 the Government Supply Office situated at the Pinney’s Industrial Site came under attack when two masked gunmen staged an armed robbery and escaped with an undisclosed sum of money. This incident also remains unsolved.

During the course of the following months a number of robberies and break-ins were reported including the recent armed robbery of the X- petrol Gas Station in Camps Village.

Citizens are concerned if these bandits who are tarnishing the good name of Nevis would ever be caught.
