On Wednesday, January 28, the Departments of Education and Sports combined to host an exciting track meet in support of Mrs June Queeley, mother of long-serving Charlestown Primary School coach Royston Queeley.
Although medals and trophies were not on offer, athletes competed with passion and determination, delivering a series of highly competitive races throughout the afternoon. The programme featured several non-traditional events, including 250 metres and 110 metres, as well as a thrilling series of 4×100 metres relays.
Participation spanned all age groups, with athletes ranging from **kindergartners to club competitors, highlighting the strong sense of unity within the sporting community.
Supporters responded generously, contributing to the cause and sponsoring various races. All proceeds from the event will go directly toward assisting Mrs June Queeley during this time of need.
At the conclusion of the meet, Royston Queeley expressed heartfelt thanks to all athletes, sponsors, organisers, and spectators for their overwhelming support and solidarity.
