Jamaica and Guyana Secure Wins in Regional Cricket Tournament

Cricket — Jamaica and Guyana both recorded important victories as the first round of the ongoing regional four-day cricket tournament concluded on Wednesday.

In the match between Jamaica and Barbados, Jamaica completed an impressive seven-wicket victory after successfully chasing a challenging target.

Barbados posted 348 in their first innings, while Jamaica responded with 342, leaving the contest finely balanced. Barbados then declared their second innings at 317 for 8, with Kevin Wickham scoring his second century of the match, finishing unbeaten on 108.

Set 324 runs for victory, Jamaica produced a strong batting performance to reach 326 for 3, led by an unbeaten 135 from McKenzie and 126 from Campbell, guiding their team to victory.

Meanwhile, in the contest between Guyana and the Windward Islands, Guyana also secured a win in a closely fought encounter.

The Windward Islands scored 286 in their first innings, with Guyana replying with 264. In their second innings, the Windwards were dismissed for 209, leaving Guyana with a target of 232 runs.

Guyana successfully chased the target, finishing on 233 for 6 to claim a four-wicket victory.

The results wrap up the opening round of matches in the regional competition as teams prepare for the next stage of the tournament.
