JNF General Hospital shooting leaves one injured

(BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS)- Nevispages understands that last night Monday, September 22, 2014 at about 8:00 p.m. two gunmen entered the Joseph N. France General Hospital, St. Kitts in the Accident and Emergency Department area and opened fire on a youngster, who was at the time seeking medical attention. It was reported that the young man ran through the treatment area in an effort to escape his attackers but in his attempt to get away he was struck multiple times about his body.

The attackers then made an escape. There was no indication that anyone else was injured.

Since the youngster was attacked while at the hospital, doctors were able to attend to him quickly. It is reported that he had emergency surgery.

The Public and Relation officer of the St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has not yet issued a press release on the details of the incident. However, Winn FM has reported that the shooting victim is 19-year old Kaheel Herbert of Lower Thibou Avenue.

Meantime, Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 662-9336, the nearest Police Station or call Crime Stoppers at 1-8020-8477 (TIPS). Callers to Crime Stoppers do not have to provide any personal information, and they may be eligible for a reward.
