In a brief ceremony held at the Department of Education on January 30, 2026, the Departments of Education and Sports presented Coach Royston Queeley with a cheque for XCD $20,000 on behalf of his mother, June Queeley.
A total of XCD $4,736.50was raised through race sponsorships, while XCD $11,983.21 came from gate entry fees and donations, for a combined total of XCD $16,719.71. The Ministry of Education contributed an additional **XCD $3,280** to bring the overall total raised from the Medical Fundraising Sprint-Off to XCD $20,000*.
The cheque was presented by the Director of Sports, Mr Aljay Newton, who expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry and the Departments of Education and Sports, as well as the organisers, volunteers, and the community of coaches for coming together to deliver an exciting and successful event.
While accepting the donation, Mr Queeley shared heartfelt thanks on behalf of his mother and family to the Ministry of Education and all those who supported the initiative. He noted that his mother was deeply touched by the overwhelming love and support shown to her and their family.
The Departments hosted the Sprint-Off on Wednesday, January 28, at ETW Park as part of the fundraising efforts for the Queeley family. Mrs Queeley is the mother of Royston Queeley, the coach at Charlestown Primary School.
