Minister Douglas Receives Newly Appointed French Ambassador

Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis  — On January 23, 2026, the Right Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs et al., received a courtesy call from Her Excellency Marie-Noëlle Duris, the newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic to Saint Kitts and Nevis, during her first official visit to the Federation.

Minister Douglas welcomed Ambassador Duris and acknowledged the long-standing relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and France, noting that the ties are reinforced by strong historical linkages. He also highlighted France’s continued support within diplomatic fora and its significant role in global affairs.

In response, Ambassador Duris underscored the shared values that form the foundation of cooperation between the two states, including a mutual commitment to human rights, democracy, multilateralism, and international law. Discussions also explored opportunities for continued collaboration on climate-related priorities and broader sustainable development objectives.

Both parties expressed optimism about further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including enhanced engagement in regional and international policy discussions.

Ambassador Duris was accompanied by Ms Shawna Lake, Honorary Consul of France in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
