MSR Media Continues to Expand the Film Industry in St. Kitts & Nevis with The Purchase of Their First Hotel

DEVELOPING HOTEL CHAIN IN THE CARIBBEAN

Basseterre, St. Kitts (December 20, 2022) – MSR Media Producer Philippe Martinez announced today the acquisition of the Ocean Terrace Inn Hotel in Basseterre, St. Kitts from Ocean Terrace Inn Limited and other companies of the TDC Group of Companies (TDC).

The oceanfront boutique hotel with breathtaking views of the Caribbean will be renamed “MSR Hotels Saint Kitts,” as the company continues to expand and build infrastructure for its film development operations in the Federation.

It also marks the first hotel acquisition for MSR Media, with plans to develop a hotel chain in the Caribbean.

The deal was negotiated with Earle Kelly, Chairman and CEO of TDC, one of the largest companies in the country with operations in general trading, services, tourism, finance, insurance, manufacturing and real estate development.

MSR Media SKN recently completed production on the thriller Strictly Confidential starring Elizabeth Hurley with Damian Hurley making his feature writing and directorial debut – the ninth film shot in the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Last month, Martinez announced that they will produce an additional 35 movies over five years in St. Kitts and Nevis, making it a top filmmaking destination in the region.

Martinez commented, “We have a long-term investment plan in the Federation and are extremely pleased to complete the purchase of the Ocean Terrace Inn Hotel with Earle and the wonderful team at TDC.

Our beautiful new boutique hotel, MSR Hotels Saint Kitts, will offer an exciting hub of creativity for our clients and film partners, will be enjoyed by tourists exploring the island’s gorgeous beaches and will also create new jobs and career opportunities in the Federation. We want to thank the Government for their dedication and support to help make this deal happen.”

Earle Kelly, CEO of TDC added, “We are very pleased to have finally successfully executed this deal for MSR Hotels and Company to acquire the OTI hotel and in the process create a home for MSR Media, which is doing a great job in establishing our Federation as a location for filmmaking in the Caribbean. The publicity that our twin islands have already received and can potentially receive in the future augurs well for our tourism industry and the country as a whole. We wish the MSR Group well and look forward to further strengthening our relationship for our mutual benefit and the development of the Federation.”

Since coming to the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis a year and a half ago, MSR Media has produced a number of films and recently completed production on the action film The Island starring Michael Jai White and Jackson Rathbone and the sci-fi/action feature Black Noise starring Alex Pettyfer and Jackson Rathbone.

Additional films shot in the Federation include the action-thriller Us or Them starring Malin Åkerman, Jack Donnelly, Wayne Gordon, Nicole Bartlett, Celine Arden and Sam Cassidy; the romantic comedy Christmas in the Caribbean starring Elizabeth Hurley, Caroline Quentin, Nathalie Cox, Edoardo Costa, Hadar Cats, Downtown Julie Brown and Rafael Emmanuel Martinez; the romantic comedy A Week in Paradise starring Malin Åkerman, Connie Nielsen, Philip Winchester and Jack Donnelly; the suspense thriller Assailant, directed by Tom Paton and starring Poppy Delevingne, Chad Michael Collins, Casper Van Dien and Jeff Fahey; as well as the comedy feature film One Year Off.
