Netball : Local Netball League in Nevis Set for June 11th

First Vice President of St. Kitts and Nevis Netball Association, Allister Thompson, confirmed on Monday that Netball will be back in Nevis shortly.

He noted that his Association commenced a local league in St. Kitts over the weekend past, but assured that the Nevis leg of the local tournament, is set to commence on Saturday 11th June.

He indicated that the Nevis end of the tournament was scheduled for an earlier date, but noted that renovation works at the Cicely Grell Hull/ Dora Stevens Netball Complex, are in their final stages and should be completed at least one week ahead of the rescheduled start of the tournament.

He stated that there are five confirmed teams registered and there is a possibility of a sixth and he indicated that the teams are in earnest training, so he expects a keenly contested league.

As regards the Netball Complex, the courts have been resurfaced and painted and the poles will be placed shortly.

The stands, bar, ticket booth and Secretariat, have all been renovated.

The signs are up once again, honouring past Netball stars in Lydia Thompson –Claxton, Cresentia PIPSIN O’Flaherty and Jeannette Grell Hull.

The grand sign is also up indicating the name of the Complex: The Cicely Hull/Dora Stevens Netball complex.

Immediately after the two local leagues in St. Kitts and Nevis are over, a combined St. Kitts and Nevis league will be held.
