Netball Report on Battle of the Saints (Allister Thompson)

NETBALL
Manager of the St. Kitts-Nevis Netball team, Allister Thompson, on Monday gave a report on his team’s recent outing to St. Maarten, where they competed in THE BATTLE OF THE SAINTS tournament.

The SKN team totally dominated the tournament, easily dismissing all of the other three teams by comprehensive margins: Guadeloupe, BVI and St. Maarten.

Despite the general lack of competition coming from the other teams, Thompson pointed out that his team needed to play eight games in the year against internationally ranked teams, in order to maintain their ranking and having played against seven such teams in the ECCB/OECS tournament, playing against St. Maarten, made it their eight team for the year.

He also pointed to the contacts made with the other team members, which can effectively forge connections for playing more inter-island games in the future.

Despite the poor weather generated by Hurricane Tammy, he stated that the ladies totally enjoyed their trip to St. Maarten and bringing back the winner’s trophy was indeed the main objective.

He thanked Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew for his significant contribution towards the trip; First Federal Credit Union and Islander Water Services.
