Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center Renames Swim Programme in Honour of Elias D. Lee II

Nevis, St. Kitts and Nevis — The swim programme coordinated by the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre has officially been renamed in honour of the late Elias D. Lee II, recognising his dedication and lasting contribution to swimming education and community development.

The programme will now operate under the name “The Elias D. Lee II Swim & Aquatic Lessons.”

Elias D. Lee II founded the programme in 2021 and led it with passion and commitment until his passing in March 2026. His dedication to teaching swimming and serving the community remains at the core of the initiative, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who participate.

The next eight-week session of the EDL Swim & Aquatic Lessons is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Classes will be held every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Sessions are led by World Aquatics Coach James Weekes and Annelise Leibbrandt, with support from a team of experienced instructors. Class sizes are intentionally kept small to provide personalized attention and encourage steady progress in swimming skills and technique development.

The programme welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels. Children under the age of five must be accompanied in the water by a parent or guardian.

As participants gain confidence in the water, they will also have opportunities to explore additional aquatic activities, including kayaking, Discover Sailing, and introductory marine biology experiences.

The Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center said the renaming of the programme serves as a meaningful tribute to Elias D. Lee II and his vision of building life skills, confidence, and community through aquatics education.
