Host team Montserrat, has come out as the surprise team of the Leeward Islands 2018 under 19 Cricket tournament. As a matter of fact, they have shone, as ‘the team to beat.’
Meanwhile, team Nevis started handsomely with wins over Antigua and Barbuda and Anguilla but faltered badly in their two last matches, versus Montserrat and neighbours, St. Kitts.
In the match versus Montserrat, the home team seemed hopelessly placed, with the score on 95 for 6 in the 24th over but Zawandi White teamed up with Livan, in a match winning partnership of 133 runs, to literally take the game away from Nevis, with all of 234 runs and then bowled them out for 178.
In the proverbial ‘battle of the narrows,’ St. Kitts, chasing a revised target, due to interruptions by rain, overhauled it quite comfortably in the end.
