Nevisians at home and in the Diaspora have been writing on Facebook and other internet blogs, congratulating the Minister and saying how proud they are of him. Many have said this is a grand opportunity for Nevis to shine on such a well known stage.

Former Premier of Nevis and leader of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP), the Hon. Joseph Parry, stated in a social media group that he is very proud of the Hon. Patrice Nisbett who he says, “represented the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis very well with a speech that outlined some very important issues such as debt, alternative energy, ending of sanctions on Cuba and other pertinent issues.”

Mr. Ivor Henry, a Nevisian residing in Miami stated on Facebook that when he heard Hon. Nisbett on the United Nations floor via internet (www.un.org), he was extremely pleased and proud as Nisbett grew up only a short walk away from where his (Henry) family lived in St. James Parish.

Mrs. Aliena Caines who resides in New York but hails from Butlers village in the St. James Parish area which Nisbett represents in the Federal Parliament says,” I am so proud to hear Marion’s (Nisbett’s mother) boy who used to pitch marbles is now on the world stage representing Nevis!”

Miss Helen Chapman of Leeds, England, whose father is from Nevis wrote on Facebook: ”Seeing the first Nevisian on the United Nations platform will remain a dear moment to me, similar to when Mr. Barack Obama was elected president of the United States.”

Hon. Nisbett who arrived back in the Federation late Tuesday evening said the experience was incredible and he wants to thank all of the supporters who wished him well on Facebook and on radio.

He said he is also happy that the Prime Minister of St. Kitts-Nevis the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas called him immediately after the speech was made to congratulate him on a job well done.

“I am very happy and very grateful that the Rt. Hon. Dr. Douglas gave me this opportunity and it will be one of my most cherished moments,” concluded Nisbett.
