Georgetown, Guyana (PMO) – Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr Terrance Drew, continued his visit to Guyana on Wednesday with a full day of strategic engagements focused on practical knowledge-sharing and identifying innovative solutions to support national development in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister’s packed schedule included visits to key institutions and project sites spanning public service digitisation, smart traffic enforcement, law enforcement command systems, agricultural research, and modern healthcare delivery.
One of the Prime Minister’s first major engagements was a detailed presentation on Guyana’s public service digitization program led by Hon. Zulfikar Ally, Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Implementation. The presentation showcased a range of integrated digital systems designed to improve project oversight, service delivery, and government accountability, including live dashboards for public infrastructure projects, hospital operations, visa processing, and citizen complaints. The systems allow policymakers to monitor national projects and services in real time from anywhere in the world.
A major highlight of the day was Prime Minister Drew’s visit to the E-Net, where he viewed first-hand Guyana’s automated speeding enforcement system operated in conjunction with Guyana’s National Data Management Authority. The cutting-edge system uses high-definition cameras, real-time dashboards, and integrated court and police systems to detect speeding and other traffic violations, automatically issue tickets, and support safer road use. Company officials expressed that the system has already contributed to a significant reduction in speeding and road fatalities, while improving enforcement and compliance.
The Prime Minister also visited the Guyana Police Force Command Centre, where he was briefed on advanced surveillance, monitoring, and operational systems supporting national security and law enforcement. The visit provided valuable insights into how modern command-and-control systems can strengthen crime prevention, improve emergency response, and enhance public confidence in national security institutions.
In the area of agriculture, Prime Minister Drew toured the National Agricultural Research Extension Institute, including its Mangrove Centre, soil chemical services unit, and biotechnology tissue culture laboratory. The visit provided an opportunity to examine Guyana’s research-driven approach to strengthening food production, improving crop resilience, and supporting farmers through science and innovation. The Prime Minister has made food security a key pillar of St Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable Island State Agenda, and the lessons from Guyana’s agricultural systems are expected to support ongoing efforts to modernise the Federation’s own agricultural sector.
Prime Minister Drew said the visit reaffirmed the value of regional partnerships grounded in practical collaboration and shared progress. He noted that the day’s engagements were not about observing systems, but about identifying tested solutions that can help accelerate development and improve the daily lives of people in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Guyana underscores his administration’s continued commitment to seeking out best practices, building meaningful partnerships, and pursuing forward-looking solutions that deliver real benefits for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
