PNO Statement on The Passing of Mrs. Lucille Louisy-Walwyn

The following is a statement on the passing of Mrs. Lucille Louisy-Walwyn by the Principal Nursing Officer, Dr. Rhondalyn Dennis-Bradshaw:

Good day, Nursing Colleagues,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mrs. Lucille LouisyWalwyn MBE, State Registered Nurse and State Certified Midwife, a trailblazer in the nursing profession and a revered figure in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Mrs. Louisy-Walwyn served as the First Matron and First Principal Nursing Officer, leaving an indelible mark on the healthcare landscape of our nation.

As we mourn the loss of a visionary leader and beloved colleague, I extend my deepest condolences to Mrs. Louisy-Walwyn’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will forever be cherished and remembered fondly by the nursing fraternity in St. Kitts and Nevis.

During the late 1950s, Mrs. Louisy-Walwyn played a pivotal role in the advancement of nursing education, spearheading initiatives to improve the quality of nursing services. She coordinated Leadership and Management Workshops, emphasizing joint planning and programming of nursing services to enhance patient care in both hospital and community settings. Her commitment to professional development led to the establishment of Sister Tutor positions at the JNF General Hospital School of Nursing, paving the way for the training of Registered General Nurses and Certified Midwives to meet the evolving needs of our healthcare system.
