POLICE INVESTIGATING CAYON SHOOTING

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 14, 2016 (RSCNPF): The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating a shooting in the Cayon area that has resulted in the death of one (1) person. The shooting occurred at around 8.30 am today (January 14).

Initial investigations revealed that the victim was shot in the upper Cayon area by two masked assailants who alighted from a motor vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensics Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence.  One (1) person of interest is detained for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.

In an appeal for assistance from the Public, Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Criminal Investigations Mr. Ian Queeley said, “We urge anyone who may have seen any unusual activity in the upper Cayon areas this morning that could be benefit to this investigation to contact the Police, your information can be critical to this investigation. Persons with information that can assist the police in this crime, or any other crime can call any Police Station in the federation or Crime Stoppers, our confidential hotline, at 1-800-8477 to share information,” stressed ACP Queeley.
