Second SIDF, Seeded Business Officially Opens In Nevis

In what was her second trip in two weeks, Mrs. Delcia Bradley-King, Corporate Affairs Manager of the Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation (SIDF), visited Nevis on Thursday October 17th to formally open the Tip Toes Nail Spa and Beauty Haven. Located in the Hunkins’ Plaza in Charlestown, the business is owned by Ms. Calette James, an alumnus of the SEED program.

In giving remarks on behalf of the SIDF, Mrs. Bradley-King humorously remarked that shortly she would be getting frequent traveler miles as she was expectant that other SIDF-funded businesses would soon follow Tip Toes Nail Spa and Beauty Haven and open their doors to the Public. Mrs. Bradley-King further expounded that SIDF was proud of Ms. James’s achievement and the hard work and commitment that she had invested thus far. However, she also reminded the new Business Owner that the journey had only just begun.

Ms. James also took the opportunity to make comments and opened by quoting a famous motivational proverb, that is, “The heights of great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight. But they while their companions slept were toiling upwards through the night.” Ms. James then proceeded to thank the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union, SIDF’s financial business partner in Nevis for the SEED Program, Ministry of Finance, a key Government Agency affiliated with the incubated Companies, Mrs. Alexa Pemberton, Certified Public Accountant from BEST Professional Services, attached to the SEED Program, Mr. Eustace Hunkins, the Landlord and Contractor who readied the Salon, and other stakeholders who had been instrumental along the way.

Soon after, Pastor Lawrence blessed the business and gathering and the ribbon was cut by Ms. James and Mrs. Delcia Bradley-King. Guests were subsequently quite amazed as they walked into what was described in their words as “I love it,” “This is awesome!” and “Nevis needed this.”

Throughout the day, visitors received appreciation tokens, refreshments, and complimentary services including pedicures, manicures, facials, and massages.
