SPECIAL OLYMPICS COMMITTEE TEAM UP IN BIG EVENT

By:Curtis Morton

Chair of the local Special Olympics committee, Mrs. Khamiya Nisbett, has revealed that her committee, along with the students at the Cicely Browne Integrated School, will be participating in a very significant event, come Monday 1st February.

The event will be a walk/run, from 10:30 to 11:30. Participants which will include cruisers and locals, will walk or run from the bay front in Charlestown to the guard gate entrance at Four Seasons and back.

The event is being held by the SKN Triathlon Federation and the Leave a Footprint Run/Walk Cruises. They have however graciously turned the event over in support of Special Olympians. All of the proceeds raised will go to the local committee in support of the athletes.

Mrs. Nisbett is encouraging as many persons as possible to come out and join in the walk/run.
‘We want a big presence in the walk/run through town to bring awareness to Special Olympics SKN, especially since many people still do not know that the organization exists or of the great accomplishments of our athletes,’ she said.

The event was already slated to occur on a Monday for those initial cruise ship walkers. However everyone is now invited to participate.
