Mr. Eric Evelyn, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, has been nominated and has accepted the call to be the new candidate for the Concerned Citizens Movement, (CCM), in St George, Gingerland.

Nevispages has confirmed that last night April 18, 2017, the CCM’s St. George’s constituency group met to vote for persons to replaced Hon. Vance Amory as the elected representative of Gingerland. Three persons were nominated, Mr. Eric Evelyn, Mr. Stedmon Tross, the current Cabinet Secretary, and Mr. Roger Fyfield, Customs Office, NIA. Evelyn and Tross were nominated and seconded. Fyfield was not seconded. The constituency group then unanimously voted for Evelyn over Tross.

Evelyn’s nomination comes as the Premier of Nevis and leader of the CCM, Hon. Vance Amory has made known his plans to retire before the next Nevis Island Assembly Election due in January 2018. Amory has been in the political arena for over three decades.

Nevispages contacted Evelyn who was elated and emotional. He expressed his amazement by the tremendous outpouring of love. Evelyn, who is a part of many community based groups and has worked with the seniors on the island, noted that, “Everything I have done has been from my heart, and is for the people”.

Eric is affectionately known to Gingerlanders as the ‘Mayor of Henley Part’ (Hanley’s Road).

To date there has been no date announced for the CCM’s convention.
