BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS — St. Kitts is set to become a home port for P&O Cruises, a brand under the Carnival Corporation, marking a significant milestone for the Federation’s tourism and cruise sectors.

The announcement was made by Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Marsha T. Henderson, who described the development as a strategic shift that repositions St. Kitts “from a port of call to a key embarkation and disembarkation hub.”

According to the St. Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA), Minister Henderson highlighted that the fly-cruise model is expected to generate substantial economic benefits, with passengers flying into the destination, staying overnight, dining at local establishments, booking tours, and shopping throughout Basseterre.

The SKTA further noted that planned upgrades at Port Zante, including the construction of a new international-standard cruise terminal, will support this transition and strengthen St. Kitts’ position within the wider Caribbean cruise network.

In October and November, three Carnival Corporation vessels—Carnival Dream, Carnival Venezia, and Carnival Pride—called at Port Zante, bringing more than 9,500 passengers to the island.
