Swimming : NASC Hosts Successful Aquathon

On Saturday, May 24th, the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre hosted an exciting Aquathon, bringing together over 50 enthusiastic community members for a fun-filled morning of aquatic activities.

The event kicked off with a lively, team-based session led by Annette Lewis, alongside the Centre’s dedicated instructors. Participants engaged in a variety of energetic water games, including floating noodle challenges, water running races, aqua cycle relays, and bucket tosses. These activities sparked laughter, friendly competition, and a sense of community spirit across all ages.

After the games, attendees had the opportunity to explore a range of aquatic skills and participate in various water sports. Activities included learn-to-swim sessions, kayaking, paddleboarding, and sailing on a Hobie Wave catamaran. For many, it was a chance to try something new and build confidence in the water.

This free event was part of the Centre’s ongoing mission to encourage the community to enjoy and utilise Nevis’s beautiful marine environment.

The Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre continues to offer regular community programs, including:
– Learn to Swim (for Adults & Children) – Saturdays, 10:00 AM–11:30 AM
– Aqua-Fit (Aqua Aerobics) – Wednesdays, 4:30 PM–5:30 PM & Saturdays, 8:00 AM–9:00 AM
– Sailing Lessons – Youth: Saturday & Sunday afternoons | Adults: Sunday mornings

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, instructors, and volunteers who made the day a memorable success. We also want to give special appreciation to our generous sponsors, including Isabel Schelcher from the UK, for their invaluable support.

The next Aquathon is being planned for November, in celebration of Worldwide Aquathon Day. Stay tuned!
