CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS — The spotlight is being placed on heritage preservation and cultural storytelling with the recognition of Mr Sylvester Josiah Meade as the Face of Tourism for the Heritage Category.

Sylvester J. Meade,, a respected creative professional, heritage manager, and award-winning photographer from Nevis, is widely recognised for his passion for visual storytelling and cultural preservation. His work continues to play an important role in promoting the island’s rich history, culture, and tourism product both locally and internationally.

Meade earned national recognition in 2016 when he captured the title of overall winner in the Ministry of Tourism’s inaugural Photographer of the Year Competition. His photography was praised for its exceptional ability to capture the essence, beauty, and spirit of island life in Nevis.

With a deep appreciation for culture, history, and community development, Meade currently serves as Product Development Officer and Heritage Site Manager within the Ministry of Tourism Nevis. In this role, he oversees several heritage sites and contributes significantly to the preservation, promotion, and interpretation of Nevis’ historical and cultural landmarks.

His work successfully combines tourism development, heritage conservation, and visitor engagement, helping to strengthen the island’s cultural identity while enhancing the overall visitor experience.
